Am I A Perfectionist?

The 5 Signs You’re Too Strict With Yourself

People who are perfectionists are often viewed as being hardworking and high-achieving. They’re seen as people who set high standards for themselves and strive to meet them. But how can you tell if your perfectionism is getting in the way of you achieving your goals? Here are five signs that indicate you might be a perfectionist…

You’re Constantly Worried About Making Mistakes

Perfectionists see mistakes as signs of failure and don’t want to make them because they feel like it would make them look unprofessional or incompetent. Unfortunately, perfectionists often end up holding themselves back because they’re so afraid of making mistakes.

You can’t become a better person without making mistakes. If you’re holding yourself back because you’re too afraid to make a mistake, take a step back from your situation and see if you can let go a little bit.

You Procrastinate Because of Your Fear of Failure

You might have a fear of failure that’s holding you back from achieving your goals and reaching your full potential. If this sounds like you, it might be because you’re too strict on yourself and you’re holding yourself to unrealistic standards.

If you constantly procrastinate because you’re afraid of failing, you’ll never achieve your goals. Set ambitious goals for yourself but be realistic at the same time.

You Have Unrealistic Expectations for Yourself

Perfectionists often don’t allow themselves to celebrate their accomplishments because they don’t feel like they’re good enough. You have to remember that there’s no such thing as being perfect. You have to accept your shortcomings and celebrate your achievements.

If you have high standards for yourself and you always strive to reach your goals, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. You should always aim to be the best version of yourself and set ambitious goals for yourself. However, you have to be realistic about what you’re capable of.

You Don’t Enjoy the Process of Learning Or Growing

If you don’t enjoy the process of learning and growing, it might be because you’re a perfectionist. You have to enjoy the process so that you can better your skills and become a more well-rounded person.

You Feel Overly Anxious And Stressed Out Most of the Time

If you feel overly anxious and stressed out all the time, try to be more lenient with yourself and let go of some of your expectations. Nobody is perfect and you have to let go of your expectations every once in a while.

If you have these signs, you might be a perfectionist and your perfectionism is getting in the way of you achieving your goals.
