How to Find Your Life Goal
A Guide to Finding Purpose

It’s not always easy to find your passions, let alone identify what your future goals might be. Yet that doesn’t mean it isn’t possible.
Anyone can find their life goals or purpose with a little help from the right resources and ideas. After all, uncovering your passions and finding out what you want in life is far more rewarding than any 9-to-5 job.
Do you feel like your life has no direction? Do you often ask yourself “What do I want to do when I grow up?” If so, you aren’t alone. Many people struggle to define their life goals and purpose. But don’t worry — there are plenty of ways to discover them!
Take Time to Discover Yourself
Even before you begin determining your future goals, it’s important to explore who you are and what you want in life.
Young or old, the first step to discovering yourself is to explore your interests.
- What are you interested in?
- What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
- What have you always wanted to try?
Ideas for exploring your interests include reading, talking to friends or family, and doing interesting things. Besides, you can explore yourself with the help of the Sensera app. It consists of a lot of mental courses which allow you to understand your patterns and feelings better.
Explore your interests as much as you can, and don’t be afraid to try new things!
Find Out What You’re Good At Now
Find out what you’re good at by taking a strengths test. A lot of websites offer free strengths tests that allow you to explore your natural abilities.
You can also explore your passions to see if they correspond with any specific field. If you love writing, for example, you could try exploring a career in journalism or blogging. If you love art, you could try your hand at graphic design or painting.
Find Out What Makes You Happy
You may think that finding a job that makes you lots of money is important, but that isn’t what makes you happy. Instead, try to find out what makes you happy — what would you truly love doing with your life if you could choose anything?
Find out what makes you happy by thinking about your passions from step two and your strengths from step three. What kind of job or career could you do that incorporates these things? What do you really want to do with your life?
Ask Family and Friends
You might be surprised at the things they can tell you. Friends and family who know you well may have suggestions and ideas that may help you discover what you want to do with your life. You can also ask people what they think your strengths are, what they know you to be interested in, and what they think makes you happy.
Think About Your Values
What are your core values? What are the things that are most important to you? With these values in mind, think about your future goals again. What do they represent? How do they reflect your values? Keep a journal while you’re thinking about your values. Not only is journaling a great way to explore your thoughts and feelings, but it’s also a great way to track your progress as you try to uncover your life goals.
Now that you’ve explored what makes you happy, what your strengths and abilities are, what you’re interested in, and what your core values are, it’s time to put all of this together. What do all of these things add up to? What is your life all about? How can you cope with your future? Put your ideas and thoughts down on paper. Now that you’ve explored all of these things, it’s time to put them together and identify your life goals. You can do this by asking yourself questions like “What do I want to do with my life?” Once you’ve answered these questions, you’ll know exactly what your life goals and purpose are.
